If I understand this correctly 3 months after the bill being published it becomes law, 6 months after that the strategy is written and the guidance 3 months after that? How can the law be in place before the strategy it refers to? I think 6 months is far too long given a strategy is already in place and just needs updating. |
06 |
The guidance needs to be in place alongside the strategy. How can the strategy be followed before the guidance to it is available? |
07 |
This all delays the Bill for far too long. |

I believe they should also have input from parents/carers given how difficult it can be for people on the Spectrum to express themselves fully owing often to their inability to understand their own difficulties. These people should all have received appropriate ASD training so they are qualified to assess. |

An adult who was diagnosed in childhood & who has been refused services in the past (possibly due to IQ) will be ignored, out of the loop, with no pathway available, and may not know how to seek help. Assessments should also be given to these persons when requested by the person with ASD, a parent, a teacher or anyone else who recognises the difficulties the person is experiencing. This must lead to appropriate support. What has prevented the support in the past is a complete lack of services for those with an ASD, due to lack of funding & lack of appropriate training of the people listed above. |

All of the above, with consent, and their actual diagnosis in order to understand the differing needs of persons along the spectrum so no-one is discounted. Also how long it took to receive the required support, so Councils who have ignored their support responsibilities will be held to account. Please include ALL people on the spectrum not just those recently diagnosed. |

It should be written on the Bill – the information must be collected. Guidances have been written before and ignored. |

It should happen all the time. |

It will enforce the strategies already in place that are widely ignored and therefore be good for all the above groups. It should give my adult son the help he is still denied, after 18 years of us asking. |

Bring it on, the sooner the better. PS Sorry I couldn’t get the ticks in the boxes. |
